The table covers important recurring and newly introduced characters, rather than every performer appearing in the season. Names such as Ciri and Falka can refer to the same person in different circumstances; they do not necessarily indicate an additional actor.
Who Plays Geralt in The Witcher Season 4?
Liam Hemsworth is the new live-action Geralt.
Viewers may recognize him as Gale Hawthorne from The Hunger Games films. His other screen credits include Neighbours, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Netflix’s Lonely Planet.
Season 4 continues the existing Geralt storyline. Hemsworth is not playing a replacement Witcher who takes Geralt’s position within the story, and the series does not restart from the beginning.
Netflix’s interview about his preparation describes months of physical and sword training before filming. It also explains that he wanted to bring more humor to the character while fitting into an established ensemble. Those are statements about his preparation and intentions, not an independent verdict on the finished performance.
For viewers returning after a long break, the main adjustment is straightforward: the actor changes, while Geralt’s history with Ciri, Yennefer, and Jaskier continues.
Is Henry Cavill in The Witcher Season 4?
Henry Cavill is not the actor playing Geralt in Season 4. He led the Netflix series through its first three seasons before Hemsworth took over.
The change was announced in October 2022. Cavill’s public statement acknowledged his departure and welcomed Hemsworth’s interpretation, while Hemsworth expressed admiration for Cavill’s work and enthusiasm about accepting the role.
Those statements confirmed the handover. They did not establish a detailed, definitive explanation for why Cavill left.
Claims about creative disagreements, contracts, or the precise effect of other projects should therefore be treated according to their evidence. A theory repeated online does not become an official explanation simply because it is popular.
The safe answer for a cast guide is the verified one: Cavill played Geralt in Seasons 1–3, and Hemsworth takes the role from Season 4.
The Returning Central Cast
Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg
Chalotra continues as Yennefer, the sorceress whose relationship with Geralt and Ciri remains central to the series.
Her role connects the family story with the magical institutions and political conflicts of the Continent. You do not need to understand every faction immediately to recognize her basic importance: she is both a powerful individual and part of the family around which the narrative is organized.
Before The Witcher, Chalotra appeared in Wanderlust and The ABC Murders. She has also worked in voice acting, including Twilight of the Gods.
Freya Allan as Ciri
Allan returns as Princess Cirilla of Cintra, usually called Ciri.
The character’s royal identity, abilities, and bond with Geralt make her important to several competing powers. Season 4 also follows her use of the name Falka, which reflects a change in identity rather than a new performer.
Ciri and Geralt are not biological father and daughter. Their parent–child relationship is a family bond within the story; confusing that relationship with her ancestry can make the imperial plot harder to follow.
Allan remains the same actor playing the central Ciri storyline.
Joey Batey as Jaskier
Batey returns as Jaskier, the bard and Geralt’s longtime companion.
His role provides a different point of entry into the world from the fighters and sorceresses. He travels, observes, performs, and maintains relationships that can carry information between otherwise separate parts of the story.
For a returning viewer, Jaskier is also a useful continuity marker. Geralt has a new actor, but an established companion remains beside him.
The Major New Additions
Laurence Fishburne as Regis
Fishburne joins the series as Regis, a barber-surgeon who becomes connected with Geralt’s traveling group.
Regis is a major addition to the Netflix ensemble. His profession also distinguishes him from characters introduced primarily through combat, royalty, or magical office.
Fishburne is widely known for playing Morpheus in The Matrix films. His filmography also includes Apocalypse Now, Boyz n the Hood, and the John Wick series.
Netflix has published a separate interview exploring Regis’s background. That material contains character revelations, so viewers who want to preserve the season’s discoveries should approach it cautiously.
Sharlto Copley as Leo Bonhart
Copley plays Leo Bonhart, a dangerous mercenary associated with the hunt for Ciri.
He is a new character to track, not another name for an established mage or Nilfgaardian officer. Remembering that distinction helps separate the personal pursuit from the wider imperial machinery behind it.
Copley’s previous films include District 9, Elysium, Chappie, and The A-Team. His casting adds a recognizable actor to the season’s antagonistic side.
James Purefoy as Stefan Skellen
Purefoy plays Stefan Skellen, an operative working for Emhyr.
Skellen belongs to the political and intelligence side of the conflict. His position is different from Bonhart’s: one works within the emperor’s network, while the other is a hired specialist.
Viewers may recognize Purefoy from Rome, The Following, or Pennyworth.
Danny Woodburn as Zoltan Chivay
Woodburn plays Zoltan Chivay, a dwarf fighter associated with Geralt’s journey.
He should not be confused with Yarpen Zigrin, who is played by Jeremy Crawford. Both characters occupy the broader world around Geralt, but they are separate people with separate performers.
Woodburn’s long screen career includes Seinfeld and Conan the Adventurer.
Geralt’s Companions: Who Is Who?
Meng’er Zhang returns as Milva, the archer introduced before Season 4. She is a returning character with a larger place in the journey, rather than a completely new addition.
Eamon Farren continues as Cahir. His previous connection to Nilfgaard is important context when assessing his relationships with the other travelers.
Jeremy Crawford returns as Yarpen Zigrin, while Fishburne’s Regis and Woodburn’s Zoltan expand the group.
The label “hansa” refers to Geralt’s fellowship or traveling company. It is a group name, not another character or kingdom.
For viewers keeping track of the ensemble, distinguish people from institutions first. Geralt’s companions are individuals traveling through the war; they are not all members of the same political faction.

The Sorceresses and Political Cast
The magical storyline retains several familiar performers:
- Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold
- Mimî M. Khayisa as Fringilla Vigo
- Cassie Clare as Philippa Eilhart
- Mecia Simson as Francesca Findabair
- Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina Glevissig
- Royce Pierreson as Istredd
Mahesh Jadu returns as Vilgefortz, while Bart Edwards remains Emhyr, the emperor of Nilfgaard.
Hugh Skinner’s Radovid and Graham McTavish’s Dijkstra belong to the Redanian political storyline. Emhyr and Radovid are not rulers of the same kingdom.
These distinctions are useful because a cast list can otherwise make every unfamiliar name look equally important. Start with the three central characters, then connect the supporting actors to the storyline in which they appear.
Who Plays the Rats?
Ciri’s outlaw companions are played by the following actors:
| Actor | Character |
|---|---|
| Christelle Elwin | Mistle |
| Ben Radcliffe | Giselher |
| Fabian McCallum | Kayleigh |
| Aggy K. Adams | Iskra |
| Juliette Alexandra | Reef |
| Connor Crawford | Asse |
The Rats are a separate group from Geralt’s traveling companions. This guide identifies them without revealing the outcome of their storyline.
Mistle is especially important to Ciri’s personal relationships, but the group should not be reduced to a single supporting character.
Is Geralt the Only Recast Character?
No. Peter Mullan plays Vesemir in Season 4, taking over the live-action role previously played by Kim Bodnia.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed the casting and reported that Bodnia’s availability was affected by his commitment to F1. That reported scheduling explanation concerns Vesemir’s recasting; it should not be transferred to Cavill’s departure as though both changes had the same cause.
Vesemir is Geralt’s mentor, which makes recognizing the character more useful than recognizing the face alone.
How Many Episodes Are There, and Where Can You Watch?
Season 4 contains eight episodes, released on October 30, 2025. The season is available through the official Netflix series page.
Netflix’s official Season 4 overview confirms the eight-episode season and the planned fifth and final season.
You can also watch the official Netflix Season 4 trailer for a brief introduction to the new Geralt and supporting cast. It includes story glimpses, so watching it is optional if you prefer to preserve surprises.

The Cast Changes to Remember Before Watching
The essential change is Hemsworth replacing Cavill as Geralt. Chalotra, Allan, and Batey continue their central roles, while Fishburne, Copley, Purefoy, and Woodburn add important new faces.
Mullan’s Vesemir is another recasting to recognize. Milva, by contrast, is an existing character whose presence expands.
Keeping those distinctions clear is more useful than memorizing every actor at once. Follow the main family, Geralt’s companions, Ciri’s group, and the political players as connected but separate parts of the ensemble.
